fathering.me (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the fathering.me website and mobile application (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Service.

• Account information: name, email address, password, and profile details you choose to share.
• Child and family information you choose to add: if you use child-related features in the app, you may voluntarily provide information about your child or children, such as a child’s name (or nickname), birthday or expected due date, and gender. This information is provided by you as the adult account holder; children do not create accounts or submit information to us directly.
• Communications: messages you send us (including support requests and newsletter signups).
• Content: information you submit within the app, such as progress notes, preferences, or responses related to fatherhood resources.

Information collected automatically

• Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, approximate location (if permitted), IP address, and how you interact with the Service.
• Cookies and similar technologies: on our website, we may use cookies or similar tools for analytics, preferences, and site performance (including Google Tag Manager / related analytics where enabled).

2. How we use information

We use collected information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Create and manage your account
• Personalize content and recommendations, including stage-based guidance based on a child’s age or expected due date when you have provided that information
• Display and manage child profiles you create within your account
• Send transactional messages and, with your consent where required, encouragement or marketing emails
• Respond to support requests and feedback
• Monitor usage, diagnose issues, and protect against fraud or abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use child profile information (such as a child’s name, birthday, or gender) for advertising to children, and we do not sell that information.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, including any child or family information you provide. We may share information with:

• Service providers who help us operate the Service (hosting, analytics, email delivery, customer support), under obligations to protect your data. Child profile information is shared with providers only as needed to store and operate your account features.
• Legal authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
• Business transfers if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections

4. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law. Child profile information (including name, birthday or due date, and gender) is stored with your account and retained until you delete that profile or your account, or until you ask us to delete it, subject to any limited retention needed for legal or security purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data as described below.

5. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information, including child and family information associated with your account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children’s privacy

The Service is intended for adults (18+) who are fathers, expectant fathers, or supporters. Children cannot create accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (or under the age required by local law).

Adult users may choose to store limited information about their children in the Service—such as name or nickname, birthday or expected due date, and gender—so we can personalize fatherhood resources for their family. That information is provided by the adult account holder about their child, not by the child. Providing it is optional; you can use the Service without adding child profiles, and you can edit or delete child profiles in the app where available.

If you believe a child has provided us personal information directly, or that child information was submitted without appropriate parental authority, contact us at hello@fathering.me and we will take steps to delete it.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information (including child profile information associated with your account), and to opt out of certain processing or marketing emails. You can:

• Update account details and child profiles in the app where available
• Delete a child profile or request deletion of related information
• Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those messages
• Contact us at hello@fathering.me to exercise privacy rights or request account deletion

8. Third-party links and services

The Service may link to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing personal information.

9. International users

If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your country.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
